Fun with SPEEA th
Go Seattle Storm
The Northwest Membership Activities Committee teamed up with the Northwest Women’s Advocacy Committee to offer discount tickets to the Seattle Storm professional women’s
basketball game July 28. SPEEA ticket holders also won a drawing (shown here) to sit with the Seattle Storm during the pre-game warmup. Nearly 50 tickets were sold.
A ball at the beach
About 40 members, families and friends took part in a SPEEA beach BBQ in Seattle
Aug. 20. Hosted by the Northwest New Hire and Young Members Committees, the event
drew many who were new to SPEEA, including some who had just started at Boeing.
The committee officers and members helped with grilling. Many enjoyed playing volleyball and badminton at the event.
Because People Matter
A total of 80 signed up for the SPEEA ‘Because People Matter’ team in the Race
for Freedom 5K and family fun run in Wichita, Sept. 9. SPEEA is also a sponsor of
this annual fundraiser for ICT-S.O.S., to end human trafficking, which drew 1,086
participants. Some volunteered at the SPEEA information booth and others signed up
virtually (donating the registration fee amount). All of those who ran or walked in
the 5K earned a point for the Healthy Spirit program. This year’s proceeds benefit the
Wichita Area Sexual Assault Center.
The Northwest and Midwest Membership Activities Committees organized golf tournaments.
The Northwest winning foursome is shown here (from left:) Albert Cha, John Baron, Paul
Lynch and Kevin Aubert at Redmond Ridge, July 15. Golfers and volunteers donated $560
to the SPEEA Cares Fund (helping any SPEEA member facing financial emergencies). In
the Midwest, the winning foursome was John Rudick, Mike Rudick, Chris Rudick and
Zach Goldberg at Augusta Country Club, Sept. 16.
