Benefits meeting in Wichita
Members were at the SPEEA Wichita office for a meeting on contract benefits April 9, prior to Spirit AeroSystems’ annual
open enrollment. Matt Kempf, SPEEA senior director of compensation and retirement, gave an overview of the health plan
options available, which includes additional plans. Open enrollment at Spirit AeroSystems ends May 4. Action is required
to prevent being assigned to the default health plan.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – IFPTE welcomes the 88 members on staff at the Center on Budget and Policy
Priorities (CBPP), a non-partisan research and
policy institute in Washington, D.C.
CBPP voluntarily recognized the union
represented by the Nonprofit Professional
Employees Union (NPEU), IFPTE Local 70.
By affiliating with NPEU, the staff at CBPP
joined others in the same local who work at
leading think tanks and non-profit organizations,
including the Citizen’s Trade Campaign, the
Economic Policy Institute and Worker Rights’
CBPP conducts research and analysis on a
range of government policies and programs.
The nonprofit research organization and policy
institute is supported primarily by foundation
Executive Board vacancy
Petition available for NW Vice President
Members interested in filling an upcom- ing vacancy for regional vice president on the Executive Board have until
noon, Wednesday, June 20, to submit a petition.
The petition, which requires 20 members’ signatures, is online at www.speea.org (drop-down
menu for Councils/Forms and Petitions). Look

Per SPEEA’s Governing Documents, the NW
Council votes to fill an interim vacancy for
Northwest Vice President on the Executive
Board. The vacancy is being created by a vice
president taking a voluntary layoff.
Eligibility – Candidates must be a SPEEA member in the Northwest Region and meet the minimum qualification of continuous membership
in good standing for the previous 24 months.
Council Reps will vote to fill the vacancy at the
July 12 Northwest Council meeting.

and toy drives with the local United Way.
