I hated to see people who were not represented when there were minor issues that
could be resolved. I always want to be
there trying to defend the downtrodden.
A lot of people’s work issues are a lack
of information or understanding. That’s
even more so now.
I meet so many coworkers in my area that
I would have normally not gotten to meet.
In many of those dealings, I’ve been able
to help. Contributing to an employee’s
growth, well-being, and job security is a
rewarding experience to have.
The Council Rep meeting attendance log for 2013 to 2015 is now online at www.speea.org. The list is divided
by region and includes the number of meetings seated (serving as a Council Rep) and the

All Council Rep seats up for election
If you’re interested in serving as a Council Representative, consider running for the upcoming two-year term. Petitions are due
Wednesday, March 25.
The Council Reps serve as union representatives
in the workplace and meet monthly to vote on
motions to set policy.
Anyone who has been a SPEEA member for the preceding 12 months can run for Council Rep in their
work area (district). Extensive training is provided.
• Find your district - Confirm your district
location by going to the 2015-2017 district delineation at www.speea.org (click
on the link for SPEEA Councils). Look for
your location, building/floor and in some
cases, bargaining unit, to find your district.
• Print a petition - Petitions are available
for printing at www.speea.org – under
Member Tools/Forms and Petitions.
The petitions require a minimum of
15 members’ signatures.
• Submit the form to one of the SPEEA
offices by 5 p.m., Wednesday, March
25. You can drop it off, fax it to your
nearest hall or email the petition to
