Laminates - July 14 - The first Summer Series
speaker will be Mark Tuttle, Ph.D., from the
UW Mechanical Engineering Department on
Tuttle is the current director of the center
for Advanced Materials in Transport Aircraft
Structures (AMTAS), which is a consortium of
six universities and is funded primarily by the
Federal Aviation Administration. The primary
focus of the center is safety and certification
of the advanced composite structures used in
modern transport aircraft. His presentation is
titled Stress Concentration Factors in Composite

Mamidala, Ph.D., will present on July 30.
Mamidala, who is
also from the UW
Department, is the
of Engineering. His
research interests reflect
nature of materials,
mechanics and manufacturing engineering.
He focuses primarily on aircraft materials
and structures. He has
very successful research
programs in fracture
mechanics, fatigue and
manufacturing engineering. His presentation will
be on the Machining of Composites.

Solidarity Night at the AquaSox - SPEEA
