About the Executive Board
The Board directs SPEEA’s activities through the
executive director, prepares the annual budget
and monitors expenses.
Board members also
serve as the team for any
interim negotiations that
may occur between formal bargaining sessions.
The three officers are
elected every two years,
with no more than two
full, consecutive terms in
the same office. The sev-en-member board typically meets twice a month
at the SPEEA halls.
2016 Executive Board election timeline
• Earliest date to turn in a petition –

Deadline to apply for negotiation teams
If you’re eligible and interested in applying for your bargaining unit’s negotiation team, applications are due at SPEEA (or postmarked by) Wednesday, Dec. 9.

The bargaining unit Councils will vote for their
negotiation teams, which will work together with
staff to prepare for and conduct negotiations.
Prof and Tech contracts expire Oct. 6, 2016.
The Bargaining Unit Negotiations Support
(BUNS) committee welcomes members to
attend at the SPEEA halls at 4:30 p.m. on the
first Wednesday of each month.

Can’t make a meeting after hours at SPEEA? You
can support your team in other ways – such as
wearing a SPEEA shirt on Wednesdays, displaying
a desk tent or wearing a SPEEA button or lanyard.
Need to get some visibility items? Ask your
Council Rep or nearby Area Rep. Supplies are
also available at the SPEEA halls.

members interested in serving.

and have an interest in the election process (as
well as Council district delineation), consider

or Midwest Tellers Committees, candidate information is included in the Executive Board election packet mailed to members’ homes.
